My Statement to the Dayton Exchange Commission

Hello All

The following is a statement I read to the Adverse Selection Working Group of the Dayton Exchange Commission this morning.  I welcome all comments and I do hope you forward this to anyone you think might want to read this.  It is time for all of us the join in and actively support those who support the furtherance of a private health insurance market.  If you don’t think you can make a difference or if you don’t think that this issue matters you are wrong.  I am convinced that this Dayton Administration is fixated on the elimination of the free market health care system in Minnesota.  Without your support they will succeed.  This issue is too important for us to sit idly by and let others make these important decisions for us.  If you want to know what you can do please tell me and I will give you some ideas. Part of the Obamacare law is to require that the states set up health insurance “exchanges” for people to buy their health insurance. This law was modeled after the Massachusetts law that created the “CONNECTOR” (the exchange in Mass). Since the federal legislation mandating exchanges was modeled after the Massachusetts Connector it is only fair to see what has happened since 2006 in Massachusetts since the law went into effect.
